Why, you climb a tree, of course!
Do you see my friend's son taking refuge from a potential drenching? (Click on the thumbnail for a larger image.)
No, not the kid in the lower branches--look a bit higher.

Hmm, you still do not see him? Well maybe you should take a look at this next photo then (please don't forget to click on the thumbnail):

Still having trouble? Try this next one.
Finally-there's our limber lad now! His mother and I were relieved to know he was safe from all that water!
Wow! I would have been a pool of nervous-mother if I had to watch my child climb a tall tree like that! Good thing he escaped all that water! :)

I love it! What my boys would give to have such a great climbing tree so close to home! Hmm... I think I recognize that lad. Could he be the elder son of another great homeschooling mom I know from your neck of the woods? ;)

Yikes! It took me a second to find him and a fraction of a second to gasp, "Oh, no!"
:-)

Awesome! What a great climber!

I thought my oldest son was a good climber, until I saw your photos!
My children and I are in shock, but we're glad he stayed dry. :)

Oh my!! And you stayed so calm as to snap pictures!! (But I would have done the same thing.) :) What a fun story to remember!

If it were any other child, I would not have stayed calm, but the way this particular boy scales heights, I'd say he's part eagle!

Yes, Janette, this is in fact the son of a well-known naturalist and homeschooling mother extraordinaire. : )

The nifty thing about that tree is that you really can't watch the child unless you are right under it. You'll know when he reaches the top, though, because he'll shake the tree and peek out in triumph. ;)

:) Yeah... I don't think I'd want to watch the step-by step process (yikes!), but the final product is cool!

Actually, neither of us saw the ascent, but the trip down was a wee bit frightening!

Alice, what a wonderful group of photos! I really admire his climbing ability. I would have been scared and proud if I were you.

Wow... I'm going to have to show this one to my boys. They will be impressed! So will my dd. *smile*
