Here is an even longer clip of our poor male Robin: Robin on a Rampage. It was taken the same day as the other two. As troubled as I am by the state of our car, I am far more concerned that he will hurt himself. His struggles, however, were not completely in vain, as he unwittingly helped teach a Catechism lesson this evening.
The girls were asking all sorts of questions about God and science. Soon the subject turned to humanity's tendency toward paganism. Why is it, six-year-old Marie wanted to know, that people seem to find objects to worship--the sun, volcanoes, statues--the list goes on forever. Well, I was able to explain, God made human beings to know, love and serve Him, so it makes sense that we must spend our lives looking for Him. If He did not reveal Himself to us, we might be like that father Robin, who sees his reflection and thinks he has found the object of his search, in his case a male rival. This is what pagans do when they worship "things" instead of the One Living and True God.
The folly of our robin's ceaseless fight has left them with an image of the futility of paganism they will not soon forget!
What an excellent connection you have made for them!

I missed the esodipe this time around, Kate, but I saw it when it originally aired some time ago. Of course I had no knowledge of the existence of Eli at that point.Fun fact: he was the best man at Blais' wedding.
