About a year ago, I fell in love with a small hydrangea display in Ethan Allen. It was a vibrant blue silk bloom in a simple silver container, perfect for our cottagy white mirror and shelf. Needless to say, when I saw the horrifying $65 price tag that dear little item was left in the store.
Here is my inexpensive Autumnal substitute, every bit as beautiful to my eyes. The silver container was a craft store bargain for less than five dollars (try to look past the fingerprints--inevitable adornments to everything in our house), and the single silk rose and dried hydrangea (picked for me by Patrick in the garden because I am "so pwetty") make me smile every time I pass them by. Best of all, they may be changed seasonally--already, I am dreaming about a fistfull of blue buds for May!
The silver Holy Family, a gift from a dear friend, is the perfect compliment to make a plain corner of the cottage bloom and sparkle all at the same time!
I can't believe your garden has such a gorgeous rose this time of year!

The fingerprints make it all the lovelier. :-)

Indeed...the fingerprints give it the perfect "touch". :)

Very nice! My boy was fingerpainting (unbeknownst to me) yesterday and left evidence of this EVERYWHERE.

Alice, You are so pwetty! You are teaching us so much about what is really important - our children's little finger prints, later bedtimes to play with dolls.. I am grateful for your lovely example of embracing these special times with our children. God bless you, Lovely Lady!

Very nice. The Holy Family picture is the kind of simple touch I'd like to add around here. Now that I'm thinking about it, the flowers are too.

Gorgeous colors on that rose! I'm loving the silver Holy Family and am thinking they'd look very nice with May blue buds too!
