In The Story of a Soul, Sister Therese of the Child Jesus offered a window into her daily routine, shared stories of life in a large family, laughed about her own shortcomings, pondered education and living the liturgical year, reflected on her journey of Faith, and attempted to lead others to Our dear Lord and His Holy Catholic Church. Her thoughts were shared through entries jotted here and there (entries she knew would be read most immediately by family and friends) all while she faithfully led the exacting life of a Carmelite. She wrote during glad times of love and grace and bitter moments of illness and doubt. The final product is not a finely crafted or meticulously edited manuscript, but an artless journal of her life and love--the story of a soul.
St. Therese, it seems, just may have been the very first Catholic blogger.
On this Feast of St. Therese, may the Little Flower ask God to bless our efforts and rain down a shower of roses on our homes and families.
