I realize that this is too cute by half, but please indulge me for a moment. Twenty-one-month old Maureen, fairly fluent and enjoying her new powers of speech immensely, keeps striking up variations on the following conversation with me:
M: I love you, Mommy.
Me: I love you too, Maureen.
M: I love you . . . all my heart.
Me: I love you with all my heart, Maureen!
M: My heart love you.
Me: And my heart loves you!
M: You're nicey, Mommy.
Me: I think you are nicey, Maureen!
M: You a treasure.
Me: You're my treasure, Maureen!
M: Daddy's nicey.
Me: Yes, that's right he is.
M: I love Daddy.
Me: Yes, so do I, honey.
M: Daddy love me too.
Me: Your Daddy is good to you.
M: I love Paddy . . . .
And on and on covering the entire family in every possible combination of loving words!
She is so enjoying these practice conversations using vocabulary she knows and discussing the people who make up her universe. In my experience, a phase like this lasts maybe a couple of weeks, but oh what joy it brings!
:-) Just going through some of your archives tonight. What a sweet comversation and although I'm sure she's moved on to many more words by now, that "love" one is, I'm sure, still your favorite word to hear.
Blessings,
~Theresa
